Tour info
The Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is located northeast of the capital city of Ulaanbaatar and it is the closest place to ride horses. Within an hour drive outside of Ulaanbaatar, Terelj area will expose you to some spectacular terrain, rivers, historical sites, and nomadic culture and adventures. The park borders the Khan Hentii Strictly Protected Area. Terelj is famous for its beautiful natural scenery, intriguing rock formations, and some manmade attractions and opportunity take leisurely strolls over green meadows carpeted with edelweiss and a dazzling variety of other wildflowers, view boulder mounds against a backdrop of pine-covered slopes.

Day 1. Ulaanbaatar
After arriving in Ulaanbaatar you will have a half-day city tour with an excursion to Sukhbaatar square and Zaisan memorial hill and national Museum of Mongolian History and followed by dinner in a local restaurant. 

Day 2. Terelj National Park
Transfer to Terelj National Park. Upon arrival at Terelj Lodge, you will be given time to settle into your ger and freshen up prior to a short 30 minute lecture about traditional Mongolian nomadic life. Special attention will be paid to the different saddles and bridles so unique to Mongol horse riding culture and history. Following lunch, clients will be given a demonstration and training class for the traditional Mongolian sport of archery. Trails and a competition will be held. Then you will meet you horsemen. Overnight in ger camp. 

Day 3. Dugui Tsagaan
After breakfast, the riders are matched to their horses, saddles selected and the horse tour begins. Today we are riding along the picturesque valley of Terelj National Park heading towards east to Khan Hentii Strictly Protected Area. After riding three hours and crossing the Terelj River you will arrive in Dugana Tsagaan steppe, where you will be served picnic lunch. After another three hours of ride in the afternoon we are arriving at the confluence of Tuul and Terelj rivers. This beautiful area is our campsite for the night.

Day 4. Gunjiin sum
As we continue our journey we will ride into the Tuul river valley along the base of mountain ranges. You will soon realize that you are slowly leaving civilization behind, entering the wilderness - birds, marmots and other ground squirrels nestle in the surrounding area. After five - six hours of riding with, we will reach our campsite for the night in Gunjiin Sum.

Day 5. The confluence of Terelj and Tuul rivers
We will make a steep ascent, and an even steeper descent across the mountain and river. We will continue riding towards Terelj through the Dund Bayan Gol valley. As before, luggage, food and equipment will be carried by packhorses. Towards the end of day, we will meet up with the support vehicles, and set up camp for the night.

Day 6. Terelj Lodge
We will drive back to Terelj Lodge. Traditional Mongolian meal of “horhog” will be served for dinner, which will be followed by firework. Overnight in gers. 

Day 7. Relaxing day in Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast we will return to UB and check into the hotel. You will have free afternoon today, after long horse riding tour. In the evening after dinner you will be transferred to an oriental foot reflexology centre that relieves the stress of your body.

Day 8. Gandan Monastery in the morning and departure
In the morning, you will visit Gandan, the largest functioning monastery in the country, and there will be time for shopping before lunch. Then transfer to the airport for your international departure.
